[Being around water, and subsequently being damp, was nothing new for Nagisa Hazuki. Especially in recent months, with the Iwatobi Swim Club moving in to high gear for the upcoming tournaments. But he had gone to sleep in his tent on the beach after a long day of setting up camp and running have a leg of an intense training regiment, and he had been dry.

He wasn't anymore, and that was the first thing the blonde teen realized when he sat up, touching his hair first, then his shirt before finally opening his eyes and sitting up groggily.]

Haru-chan... ?

[No answer, and with a yawn and a hand across his eyes he finally became aware of the unnatural light that was all around him, plus the cold stone beneath his other fingers. Looking around revealed a plaza, people milling about as if nothing was wrong at all, the distinct lack of his tent-mate and the balled up sleeping bag he had been clinging to. If Haruka was gone, Makoto and Rei probably were, too...

But...]

Where am I... ?

[His head tilted back, back, baaaack until he was able to stare at where the sky should have been, only to find it gone. And in its place, water. Water held back by nothing more than a bubble.]

Whaaaa? ... that's... that's so cool!

[So much for being worried about his location...]

[Oh! Towels are good! Nagisa takes it, seemingly unaware or at least unabashed by the fact that he's still in his PJs, and that said PJs happen to consist of some... interesting design choice as well as short shorts that would put a certain scantily clad exorcist to shame.]

But... that's water out there, isn't it? Is it the ocean? Or a really deep lake?

[His enthusiasm will also not be contained, regardless of the situation.]

Ahh... I'm just sad Haru-chan can't be here to see it!

Yeah... it is. And a couple months ago it flooded and nearly killed us all.

[Nagisa had been busy toweling off his hair when she said that, prompting him to lower the towel with a curious but distinctly worried look.]

Oh... that would be scary...

[But it was gone in an instant, replaced with a chipper, optimistic statement.]

Obviously everyone needs to learn how to swim really, really well!

... You do know that swimming has jack all to do with it when there's tons of water pressure bearing down on you, right?

[cue the big-eyed, oblivious blinking]

I guess Rei-chan would really know more about that than I would! I'm terrible at math!

It's... not really necessary to know math. What do you think that much water is going to do to a human body?!

It seems like it could be a little more cool if we weren't wet.

[Hopefully that lack of worry will extend to the poor drenched young lady not too far from him, because she is sporting some sharp fangs and horns and gray skin. Still, she's smiling friendly enough and holding out a towel to him. She has another in her arms that she'll use to clean herself up.]

[Well it certainly is a startling sight to see, more so than the bubble surrounding the unfamiliar city even. Nagisa's excitement quickly jumps in to surprise once he sees who's spoken to him, and he doesn't take the towel offered right away.]

I... is that cosplay... ?

Cosplay? No, not today. [Rufioh might have got her to do it now and then. Maybe. Y'know.] I guess you've never met a troll before, which means you're definitely not involved in Sgrub.

[And she thought enough drama was happening when Meenah showed up. Just where is she now?]

[Well that's not what he ever imagined a troll to look like, but then again he also never expected to meet one in person.

He knows it's rude to stare, but he can't help it, even as his hand fumbles for the towel. He shakes his head, unable to take his eyes off of her.

If the water didn't feel so real, he might have been able to convince himself this was a dream.]

This isn't where I was when I went to sleep.

That's right. I'll tell you about it when we're not in embarrassingly wet clothes.

[She's a Maryam, she has to look good, ok? She starts to dry off her hair first, dealing with the staring patiently even if her dress is a bit too thin for being wet, if you catch the drift.]

This definitely isn't where I was either. Meenah is going to be so disappointed if she stops getting caught up in things with the other Serket. So, where were you?

[Well Nagisa is already losing that battle; he was in his PJs when he woke up, and has been left standing there in short-shorts and a teeshirt of... questionable design and color patterns.

But he can at least be dry, so he does start working on his hair first.]

On a beach, in a tent with Haru-chan. We were training for the up coming prefectural swimming tournament.

[Don't stay in her presence too long, Nagisa. She will force you into clothing that looks good.]

Well, while we're near water, I don't think you're near your friends. We could look around together if you want. We're both lost, after all. Two featherbeasts with one stone.

[His sense of fashion outside of his school uniform is always a little... questionable. Seriously he looks like he belongs in a early 2000's boy band sometimes.]

No, I don't see any of them...

[Which worries him a bit. It was night on the beach, after all... hopefully they're alright.]

Well I don't know what a featherbeast is, but I know that two heads are usually better than just one!

Heh, of course. Let's try that store, first. We can get into some dry clothes, too. I have some things that I think might fit you. They were going to be for a few friends of mine, but I think they won't mind.

[Mostly because she doesn't think they're here.]

[Obviously it hadn't occurred to him just what he's wearing, but when he finally catches on and looks down, his face goes a bit pink. He even tugs on his wet tee shirt, trying to make the fact that he's wearing very light, and probably at least somewhat now see through shorts.]

O-oh... heheh, alright...

[ Makoto groaned and sat up, rubbing his head. He felt like he'd just been through the spin cycle. The sight that greeted him was a little confusing, definitely not a place he was familiar with... How'd he even get here? The last thing he remembered was the rain pelting down on him and storming off into the ocean to rescue Rei and now he was... ]

No... no way.

[ He... he didn't make it? The waves were pretty intense and he could barely see anything. But... he couldn't see Rei anywhere! That... that was at least something! At least his teammate made it out al-oh god no familiar blonde head right over there. ]

Nagisa! Don't tell me you too...

[ He's a terrible ~~mom~~ team captain! What kind of captain not only died but let one of his friends die as well on a simple summer training camp?! ]

[Gasp! A familiar voice!]

MAKO-CHAN!

[Sorry, Makoto. You're not dead, but Nagisa isn't going to explain that because he's too busy throwing himself at you.]

You're here, too!

[ Nagisa no why are you so happy and cheerful-Have you already accepted your fate? Now Makoto just feels even WORSE somehow. ]

I... am here. Nagisa I'm so sorry, if I had stopped to get help first then maybe we both wouldn't have...

[ He just can't bring himself to say it...! He doesn't even have the heart to dodge the penguin slam either. ]

[Yes Makoto that's entirely what's going on. Nagisa is so damned chipper about everything that even death won't stop him.

... actually that's probably true, but since they're not really dead it's kind of irrelevant right now.]

[He has no idea what Makoto is insinuating, and all he can really react with is a confused blink and a head tilt while practically sitting on the older boy.

But his confusion doesn't last long enough for him to answer properly, with Nagisa suddenly bouncing and pointing up.]

Look! Look what's above us! Isn't it amazing?!

[ Nagisa your optimism would probably annoy the Grim Reaper so much he'd kick you back into the world of the living. You'll live forever. ]

We wouldn't have-huh? Above?

[ So he finally decides to stop freaking out for a brief moment and takes a look up... ]

[ If he wasn't so sure he was dead he'd probably be a little more awed by it and not just reaffirmed that he was indeed no longer alive. ]

So this really is the afterlife for people who died in water, huh?

[That drew Nagisa's attention back to Makoto, big eyes blinking slowly as his expression slid from confusion to uncertain sadness.]

Y... you don't really think--... b-but we can't be!

[He shook his head frantically, refusing to believe that anything like that could have happened.]

There's no way! We can't just leave Rei-chan and Haru-chan like that!

The last thing I remember was swimming towards Rei, I could barely see anything and the waves were huge...

[ A sad looking Nagisa is just.. just... well it's not a thing that should be happening! And what's worse... Makoto realizes he is the cause of the sad Nagisa. Which makes him feel just so completely terrible. ]

No! No you're right. We can't be dead that's crazy.

[ He puts a hand on his friend's shoulder in what he hopes to be a comforting way. ~~Mako stop being awkward and hug him geez~~ ]

We just got washed away! This much be one of those underwater resorts...

And Haru-chan and I saw you and followed you out...

[But now he's imagining all the horrible things that could have happened out there, and it's making him even more sad. Shoulders slumping, curled up fists on his knees (mind he's still partially sitting on Makoto during all this...), looking for all the world like a puppy that's just been told it's master won't be coming home.

But then Makoto assured him that, no, that's silly, why would they be dead? And he instantly perked up after giving it some thought.]

You're absolutely right, Mako-chan! We can't die! We're too attractive for that, and it would be too great a tragedy!

[... nagisa what]

Nagisa...

[ Makoto trails off, his mouth slightly agape and one hand slightly raised as if he were about to actually seriously reply to that. But honestly. If he gets caught up in this he'll end up just as crazy as his friend. So instead his hand just swings down to his side and he just SIGHS in defeat. ]

How about we just try and find someone official looking?

[ Hopefully one who didn't have wing and a halo. Or horns. He WAS with Nagisa after all. ]

[Good idea, Makoto. Don't drink Nagisa's koolaid, some one needs to stay sane here.

The reaction just gets a confused blink again, head tilting to the side with a "did I say something wrong?" look.]

Oh... alright!

[Odd moment forgotten, Nagisa finally gets up, offering a hand to Makoto once he's on his feet.]
