Character: Monaka Miyama-Uguisu
Fandom: The Miyama-Uguisu Mansion Incident
Player Name: Cyndi
[Monaka should had known better than to look up. She wasn't sure what had happened, but she already felt wary of the situation. Her whole body was drenched in cold water. It soaked right through every layer of clothing she wore, it saturated her hair, and dripped off the tip of her nose. The soft, rhythmic sound of water dripping did not calm Monaka in the slightest. It only made her far too aware that, before she arrived here, she had been in water. She had been too close to the water, perhaps.
Perhaps she had fallen in.
She looked around her, hoping to see something familiar but everything was too new, too shocking. Even the trees seemed odd, maybe it had something to do with the weather? Monaka glanced upward and was instantly rooted to the spot. A man making his way through town tried to speak to her, but Monaka could not hear him. Her eyes were trained on the sight above her head, at the wide expanse of deep blue water, barely held back by some unearthly force.
The sight of it sent a chill down her spine. It reminded her far too much of a time long ago, when she could still see her parents' smile, when she could see them face down and unmoving.
All she could feel was a deep-seated terror as it worked its way through her body, paralyzing her to the spot.]
No... Please, no... [It wasn't directed towards anyone in the area. She held herself tightly, trying hard to push down the fear that had lodged itself into her throat.]
It can't be real... [It was a nightmare after all. The world was closing in all around her, that thin barrier that held back the water was sure to break and then -- and then -- and then --
Monaka held back a sob as she held herself tighter, trying yet failing, to bring herself back together.]

. . . that tail hadn't been her imagination, had it. Those horns on his head that appeared that night, how easily he destroyed the demon . . . how familiar he felt . . .
But it just couldn't be! She saw a lot of crazy things during that time but this?]
Night left a long time ago. . . I haven't seen him since -- ... [Since the evening she believed everything was her fault and she cried herself to sleep with Night by her side.]
...He's my important friend. M-My very best friend, he -- [meant the world to her, but she had to let him go. He was still a cat, after all. She never blamed him for leaving.]
no subject
[That much Rin had been told, and it was one of the reasons he admired Night so much. Rather than accept what he was, accept that he would be nothing more than that, he found a reason to fight and clung to it with every fiber of his being. So much so that he had broken every established rule, all to save one person.]
He's still your friend. That never changed. Hell, sometimes he talked about you like you're the only person in the world. That's how much he still cares about you.
no subject
As much as he wished Rin saying that helped, it only made him feel worse.]
I'm sorry, Monaka... [Honestly, sincerely sorry.] I just wanted to see you happy again...

It was true that his presence felt familiar and comforting. And that sad look on his face seemed far too honest. Night the Exorcist had red eyes, like her Night. And Night the Exorcist had known her name back then. She knew that she never introduced herself to him. And she knew her uncle wouldn't have bothered to say anything about who she was.
Night the Kitty would know things that Night the Exorcist might not know, unless they were somehow one in the same. But Rin said something that really made her look as closely as she could at Night.
"He left to find a way to help you."
And both Night the Kitty and Night the Exorcist had helped her. Night the Exorcist even told her once...]
..."Never forget those who love you". [If Night could talk, wouldn't he be saying these things? Or would he tell her stories instead about how hard it was to be a cat. Or maybe he would have other stories. And Night did bring a story to her, a story that was far too familiar and if she hadn't of fallen asleep, she would have known the end.]
Could you ... could you tell me how the story ended?
no subject
That's right. [He can't look away from her, his chest twisting painfully.
Yet he smiles softly at her question, voice quiet.] Well... The demon was slayed and the girl lived happy and free from his imprisonment.
Wouldn't you agree?
no subject
This was her little kitty, wasn't it. Her wish, a small and childish dream, had really come true. And he was the one talking to her and she was the one who was wrong.]
I would... Night. [She was elated but shame crept by the edges of her mind. She should have realized sooner and she had made her friend - her friend - look so sad...
There were far too many questions but she had at least one answer. Monaka only then noticed how much she was crying, how blurred her vision became.] I ... I did forget. I'm sorry...
no subject
But as it went on he remembered that Monaka was a new arrival, and like all new arrivals, still standing there in layers of wet clothing.
He straightened, nudging Night with an elbow.]
Gonna go get her somethin' to change in to and some towels, okay?
no subject
[A lump grows in his throat, eyes burning when he sees that Monaka... doesn't hate him, or fear him for what he was.
Rin brings him out of it, face heating up. How did he forget that???]
What-- Oh! Oh God, I completely forgot- I'm sorry, Monaka! [She could catch cold like this, jeez! He was such an idiot!]
no subject
And yet, it was Night would was apologizing now. He was the one who said he forgot.
With how weak and unexposed to the elements as she was, there was little doubt that she would catch a cold. Or it could have been worse, if they hadn't realized in time.
Monaka lifted her arm to get a better look at her kimono sleeve. It was still drenched and it sagged on her body, making her look like a wilting flower.]
You don't have to apologize, Night. [Really, he didn't. He hadn't done anything wrong.] I'm fine.
no subject
[And with a wave, Rin slipped away towards the upstairs to find something Monaka could wear as well as a few towels to help her get dry.]
no subject
[Nope he was gone. Leaving Night and Monaka alone.
Honestly if he didn't know any better he's swear the floor was slanted for how unbalanced he felt right now. He turns back to Monaka, cheeks pink.]
I, um... M-Maybe you could take off some of your layers... in the bathroom!
no subject
I-I should do that! [Her cat was a man and the man was obviously a man and now nothing would ever make sense to her again. She turns around and starts walking in the opposite direction, but stops after only three steps.]
Where's the bathroom?
no subject
Th-This way... [Carefully moving around her, he leads her to the bathroom, shooting her a small smile as he opens the door for her.]
Rin should be back soon.
no subject
[Don't mind her watching him very carefully. It was hard to tell if Night somehow turned into a human or not. Maybe it took a while for a cat to change. The fact that the cat she knew was really a demon hadn't really crossed her mind.
She followed closely behind and took one tentative step into the bathroom. Gee, even the bathroom was unlike anything she had ever seen. She turned back to him, a confused expression on her face.]
You mean... he's going to come in? [ -- Of all the questions to ask, why did she have to say that one first...]
no subject
Like modesty.]
When you're changed I have something to show you. [He says it quietly, looking away.]
no subject
She nodded and with that last statement Night gave her, Monaka smiled. She closed the door behind her as quietly as she could.
Once she had the door secured, Monaka sank to her knees. The weight of the world seemed to collapse around her. She was mentally and physically exhausted. There was so much she had learned, and not enough time to consider it.]
no subject
Uhm... this was all I could find...
['This' being some of Maka's clothes, namely a cute yellow top with bunched sleeves and a pale colored short skirt to match.]
I'll try to get her kimono washed, but it's probably gonna take a while.
no subject
Oh- ... Yeah, that should be fine.
[Taking the clothes he lightly knocks on the bathroom door.]
Ah, Monaka... Rin brought some clothes for you.
no subject
Okay.... [She glances between Night and the few articles of clothing. That... what sort of clothing was that? Well, it would be rude to reject hospitality. Monaka bows and accepts the clothes.]
...Thank you, Rin. [Now to figure out how these clothes work. She should ask...]

[Really, he wished Shiemi was available to help her out here, as... weird as that might be for everyone involved, but she wasn't so they were just going to have to make due with what they had right now.
Still, knowing how Shiemi had to deal with getting used to a school uniform, he had some indication that this might be all a bit new to Monaka.
There was only so much help he could give through a bathroom door, though.]
I-it's uhm... two pieces. The top you should be able to just pull over your head.
