Test Drive MemeExactly what it says on the tin.
First brush up on some of the general rules outlined here first, then:

1) Labeling the subject with your character's name and canon is up to you, but would make recognition easier.
2) Do go ahead and tag out! The purpose of this mingle post is to get everyone cozy with the setting and the playerbase.
3) If you're up for it, make a reservation. Applications open on the 22nd!

Some prompts if you'd like a boost (the first chunk is lifted from the applications page, bless the mods):

A) A new curse has settled upon the city of Vatheon: Suddenly you character realizes they are unable to lie for the duration of a week.
B) What is this? Is that rain? How nice-- wait a minute, is it raining rubber duckies? Seriously?
C) Suddenly, by the force of Vatheon, an over zealous npc, or even your character's friends playing a joke, your character suddenly finds themselves wearing clothes they otherwise would never wear.
D) The city of Vatheon is under attack (again). Giant sea-creatures are wrecking the city (again). Time to prepare for battle.
E) A new plot development has happened and your character has decided to get some more information from one of the NPCs.

F) Whatever the heck your beautiful heart desires

[Leo was pretty sure that was Piper, but when did she get here and why is she wearing a maid dress? Well, whatever the reason, he's not gonna pass up this opportunity.

He readies his SFC to take a picture so that when she turns around he can snap it before she can react.] Hey, Pipes! [He knows she doesn't like it when he calls her that, so he's of course expecting the most glorious glare.]

[It works!

Piper turns around to glare knives, daggers, and other sharp things at the offender.]

Leo, for the last time--

[He snaps the picture and shoves his SFC into his tool belt so she can't grab it from him.]

I know, I know. Don't call you Pipes. [Big shit eating grin.]

[She stares as it dawns on her that he just--]

Leo. I'm going to kill you. Slowly and painfully and while you're awake.

[He laughs. Oh this is too good and so worth the beating he's about to get.]

Too late. I've already posted it on the network. Everyone here will be seeing it in moments. [He didn't actually, but she doesn't know that.]

[She wants to storm over there and take the starfish from him, but there's that magic toolbelt to think about. Piper's just standing there, fuming.]

I'll get you for this, Valdez, and you're not going to like it. It'll be even worse if you dare show that to Jason!

No need to go all wicked witch on me now that you've wound up in Oz. This isn't Kansas anymore. [Obviously. Joking aside, it's been a while since they were there.] It'd be a bit hard to show it to Jason. Far as I know he's not here.

[He could check the list, but doing so would mean pulling out the SFC and he's not gonna fall for it that easily.]

I think I'd prefer a dryer way of getting to Oz, and I'm glad we're not in Kansas. [She frowns a little.] If he's not here, then where is he?

[He will never forget it. Or he would if this were actually n game.]

Just like home. Except instead of gods meddling with our lives we have scientists that we never see meddling with them. Well, there's also a big lack of monsters here. So not just like home.

No monsters. I can live with that. I don't think I like the idea of these scientists, though.

[Piper glances down at her outfit and barely resists scowling darkly at it.]

Look, let me change and you can tell me all about it. I can't stand it anymore!

[With that said, she goes off to find her clothes, go into the employee's area, and quickly change back into her regular wear. Piper can't help glancing nervously and guiltily around to make sure that recruiter doesn't see her, but she's feeling a lot more comfortable.]

Let's go before I get yelled at for bailing.

I don't think anyone does.

[He nods and waits for her to return. While she's away he goes about making sure that the photo is safely secured on his SFC, saving the file name to something innocuous and tossing a password onto it. There's no way he's letting that get deleted, or letting anyone see it on accident. He also takes the chance to see if Jason is on the list. He's not. By time she returns, the SFC is tucked back into his tool belt.]

I doubt you'll get yelled at, P-dawg. [Terrible nickname, but he's gonna try everything until he finds something good or Piper gives up her protests.] If it's a local running the place they won't care one bit. If not, you've got that way with words. I'm sure you'll be fine.

[She glares at him.]

Call me that again, and you'll see just how good with words I am.

[Piper won't actually do it, but Leo doesn't need to know that. She heads out of the cafe pretty quickly, though.]

But I see your point. What's up with these scientists?

[He laughs.] Okay, okay. No P-Dawg. I get it.

[Shrug.] I don't know. They're the ones that bring us here. This is all part of some wacky experiment.

[Piper frowns at that.]

Any ideas on how they observe all of us? Like, are there cameras around?

[Please say it's not like some sort of weird Cabin in the Woods thing.]

I don't really know. I'm guessing there's cameras around, but [He shrugs.] it's hard to say. Could be any number of things. Whatever it is, I haven't been able to pick up on the method.

Then it's possible that it's not something mechanical. Or maybe not within your range of detecting them?

I'm leaning toward "not mechanical". I've scoured ever corner of our house and the property around it and I can't find anything. And I've looked around other places, too.

[She shakes her head, annoyed. Not at Leo, though, she knows he's done the best he can.]

Well, we'll figure it out. I guess in the meantime we make the most of it.

It's the only thing there is to do. This place isn't too bad if you don't think about the scientists and the curses.

I guess so. Tell me about Vatheon, then. What's there to do or see?
