Test Drive MemeExactly what it says on the tin.
First brush up on some of the general rules outlined here first, then:

1) Labeling the subject with your character's name and canon is up to you, but would make recognition easier.
2) Do go ahead and tag out! The purpose of this mingle post is to get everyone cozy with the setting and the playerbase.
3) If you're up for it, make a reservation. Applications open on the 22nd!

Some prompts if you'd like a boost (the first chunk is lifted from the applications page, bless the mods):

A) A new curse has settled upon the city of Vatheon: Suddenly you character realizes they are unable to lie for the duration of a week.
B) What is this? Is that rain? How nice-- wait a minute, is it raining rubber duckies? Seriously?
C) Suddenly, by the force of Vatheon, an over zealous npc, or even your character's friends playing a joke, your character suddenly finds themselves wearing clothes they otherwise would never wear.
D) The city of Vatheon is under attack (again). Giant sea-creatures are wrecking the city (again). Time to prepare for battle.
E) A new plot development has happened and your character has decided to get some more information from one of the NPCs.

F) Whatever the heck your beautiful heart desires

[ It is massive. Surely, when you went to bed last night it wasn't there but it is MASSIVE. Even more massive than its first incarnation. That was cantown. This, oh this, my friends is a can KINGDOM. It is a sprawling can metropolis that stretches the entire length of the plaza around the coral.

There are buildings made of turned over boxes and strips of cloth piled up two or three boxes high, the highest being one that involves five boxes stacked into a pyramid shape with an open can on the top. There are also scribbles in chalk of what look to be roads and highways, appropriately named CAN STREET and CAN BLVD and CAN ROUTE 33 just to name a few. It seems to be an entire play town constructed of boxes and cloth and junk and chalk scribbles.

And cans.

So

many

cans.

They're mostly canned tuna and canned sardine but they're strewn about. Some cans can be seen coming out of buildings, some walking down the "streets" and driving down the "roads".

Why, there even seems to be a parade of cans being set up by this little creature.

[At the moment, Piper is wishing that she wasn't so nice and moral about her Charmspeak. If she wasn't, she probably wouldn't be wearing this. "This" being a French maid uniform.

Not. Happy. What if one of her friends sees her in this thing? Gods, she'll be so mortified. Piper gives the sky (?) above a somewhat ugly look. She's fairly sure that this is somehow her mom's fault. The look doesn't last for long, since she's trying to find a place she can duck into to change into normal clothes.

[What do? Join in, of course! While unfamiliar with the concept of Cantown, Bro gets the general gist of it almost immediately.

He crouches down by the side of the can parade and starts folding little paper hats for all the cans. If there's going to be a celebration, it needs to be done in style.]

[Leo was pretty sure that was Piper, but when did she get here and why is she wearing a maid dress? Well, whatever the reason, he's not gonna pass up this opportunity.

He readies his SFC to take a picture so that when she turns around he can snap it before she can react.] Hey, Pipes! [He knows she doesn't like it when he calls her that, so he's of course expecting the most glorious glare.]

Piper turns around to glare knives, daggers, and other sharp things at the offender.]

[He snaps the picture and shoves his SFC into his tool belt so she can't grab it from him.]

[ Annabeth turns up for work as a bouncer at the Maid Cafe in a sleek black suit, crisp white shirt, black tie and pumps. If nothing else, this outfit was worth being seen in. But the maid outfit? Hell to the no.

...which is of course how she ended up in one ten minutes later. Why in Hades did I agree to help out if they were short? she thinks furiously as she makes her way over to another maid fussing with her own outfit. Because you wanted the money, dope. This was bound to happen sooner or later and you know it.

It's then that Annabeth realises she knows the other maid. The emotions "relieved" and "horrified" at being caught dressed like this war inside her as she speaks. ] P-piper?

[She stares as it dawns on her that he just--]

Leo. I'm going to kill you. Slowly and painfully and while you're awake.

[He laughs. Oh this is too good and so worth the beating he's about to get.]

[Piper wants to find a hole, curl up in it, and just die there when she turns to look at the speaker.

On the plus side, she's not the only one miserable!]

Hi, Annabeth. [...Wait. Wait.] A-annabeth? Oh my gods, this isn't Tartarus, is it? Are you alright?! Is Percy here, too?

[ If Piper finds that hole then Annabeth is joining her quicksmart. Complete with blanket fort. As it is she's had to glare defiantly at two guys walking past already.

They hadn't actually done anything, but she'd glared anyway.

She pulls Piper into a hug, poufy dress and all. ]

No, no this isn't Tartarus! We were falling and somehow we landed here. Yes Percy's here, Leo too, we're all safe! How long have you been here?

[She wants to storm over there and take the starfish from him, but there's that magic toolbelt to think about. Piper's just standing there, fuming.]

I'll get you for this, Valdez, and you're not going to like it. It'll be even worse if you dare show that to Jason!

[Piper hugs her back, relieved that Annabeth is real and that this isn't Tartarus and that her friend is alright.]

Maybe...five minutes? The last thing I remember is being on the Argo II, setting a course for Greece.

[Can Cantown stand against the assault of an enormous monster?

At least the enormous monster isn't Dirk. Dirk, in fact, isn't anywhere close to the city limits of Cantown. What there is, however, is a little four-eyed robot kitten that seems determined to knock over and play with every can in the entire city.]

[What's worse than a random guy seeing Piper in a maid dress? A random guy commenting on Piper in a maid dress, of course. At least he doesn't whistle. Or stare at any part of her but her face- not that it's easy to tell, with him wearing his shades.]

Yeah. Unfortunately. She was talking so fast that I couldn't get a refusal in edgewise, and by the time I could, it was a little late.

[She sighs.]

This is not what I like or even usually wear.

[She can't help a wry smile at the tone.]

My comfort levels are in the negatives. I'm still trying to figure out how to get out of this.

Percy just happened to pass by the Maid Cafe. Really. Comeplete happenstance. He only paused when he realized that a couple of the maids looked awfully familiar.

No need to go all wicked witch on me now that you've wound up in Oz. This isn't Kansas anymore. [Obviously. Joking aside, it's been a while since they were there.] It'd be a bit hard to show it to Jason. Far as I know he's not here.

[He could check the list, but doing so would mean pulling out the SFC and he's not gonna fall for it that easily.]

[ Annabeth's first instinct is to grab Piper and shield her, even though she knows it's only Percy. But hugging her close just makes the hooped skirt of her uniform fly up at the back to expose her generously-frilled pantaloons.

Cursing in Ancient Greek, she jumps around to face Percy instead, arms held out to the sides shielding Piper from the front. ]

What are you doing here? [ See that accusatory glare? Yep, it's aimed at you Percy. ]

[Piper covers her face for a moment before moving her head so that she can see Percy. In all honesty, she's really relieved to see that he's also alright, but this is just so embarrassing.]

Hi, Percy.

[She doesn't ask yet if he's alright, since Annabeth might just judo flip Percy again depending on his answer.]

I think I'd prefer a dryer way of getting to Oz, and I'm glad we're not in Kansas. [She frowns a little.] If he's not here, then where is he?

[Percy laughs, and points at the two of them, at a loss for words. They both look great in their maid outfits, and that plus the absurdity of the costumes and his joy at seeing Piper again make it so he can't help laughing.]

Hey! What's going on? Playing dress-up? I was just kind of exploring.

[He surveys the shop and after a moment manages to decipher the name of the place. Maid Cafe, huh?]
