First brush up on some of the general rules outlined here first, then:
1) Labeling the subject with your character's name and canon is up to you, but would make recognition easier.
2) Do go ahead and tag out! The purpose of this mingle post is to get everyone cozy with the setting and the playerbase.
3) If you're up for it, make a reservation. Applications open on the 22nd!
Some prompts if you'd like a boost (the first chunk is lifted from the applications page, bless the mods):
A) A new curse has settled upon the city of Vatheon: Suddenly you character realizes they are unable to lie for the duration of a week.
B) What is this? Is that rain? How nice-- wait a minute, is it raining rubber duckies? Seriously?
C) Suddenly, by the force of Vatheon, an over zealous npc, or even your character's friends playing a joke, your character suddenly finds themselves wearing clothes they otherwise would never wear.
D) The city of Vatheon is under attack (again). Giant sea-creatures are wrecking the city (again). Time to prepare for battle.
E) A new plot development has happened and your character has decided to get some more information from one of the NPCs.
F) Whatever the heck your beautiful heart desires

[He narrows his eyes, almost shooting N a dirty look.]
Far from Unova and its laws, and our own deeds. I imagine you'd want to warn everyone about me, hm?
[then Ghetsis grinned]
But if you did, I'd see to fit to inform them about your own actions. How would they take that, I wonder?
no subject
They... they know. Because unlike you I'm honest.
[Only not entirely. It was more "Bianca and Hilda know and I've made allusions to not being a good person to others" but for the moment he was going to willingly choose to omit certain facts.]
no subject
Tell me then, will they be accepting when they find out what you are? What you are, deep down? How you're nothing but an inhuman freak?
[Ghetsis's words don't rise at all as he says this, staying low and even pitched. His grin never leaves his face, either]
no subject
[While Ghetsis' voice remained even, N's rose, frantic and betraying his fright with the rapid pace that his words picked up.]
I have friends here! Human friends who aren't the monsters you tried to convince me they were! None of them see me that way and they have no reason to!
no subject
[Ghetsis narrows his eyes, and with what he says next, his voice actually raises a few octaves]
Do you honestly believe you connect with them? That you understand them? Or are you just an outsider looking in, trying to comprehend their actions and their thoughts?
Can you look me in the eye and tell me you truly comprehend humanity, now?
no subject
[N straightens against the rising voice directed at him, squaring his shoulders and refusing to look away.]
That's a ridiculous notion. Not even humans fully comprehend themselves, and I understand them least of all. But I don't truly understand Pokemon either.
I'm learning, properly learning now that I'm no longer under your thumb. Not just books and dry facts and standard equations but all the equations the world and humans and Pokemon have to offer one another!
TW: PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL ABUSE FROM THIS COMMENT ONWARD
By the time N had finished talking, it had reached it's peek...
... followed by Ghetsis raising his good arm, and very quickly lashing out to strike N across the face]
no subject
But this was that 10% that N just didn't expect, so the strike not only hits but it sends him crumpling the ground like a marionette with suddenly cut strings. His ear was left ringing, sharp pain working all up the side of his face, bringing tears to his eyes and leaving a coppery taste in his mouth as blood trickled out the corner of his lips.
He stared up at Ghetsis, mouth agape and eyes huge. In all the years he had been with this man, never once had he raised a hand to N, and all that confidence drained out of him in an instant.
He was shaking, visibly trembling hand to his face and unable to even speak.]
no subject
Congratulations, son. You finally stood up to me. It's a pity you did it only after all the things I had you do in my name.
But honestly, do you think this attempt at self affirmation makes you better? That it changes who and what you are? I made you, you disgusting little monster, and that will never change.
Your dreams, your hopes, your ideals? They only exist because I wished it. Those Pokemon you befriended? They were injured by my order before they ever had contact with you.
Everything you are, every experience you ever had, even the friend that changed your life only happened because of things I set in motion. Never forget that, N.
Never. EVER. Forget that.

[But try as he might, his voice wouldn't lose that tremor, wouldn't lift back to the confident tone it held earlier. His blue-gray eyes wouldn't rise to meet that gaze, and he never once moved to get up off his knees.
Even hearing things confirmed that N had always suspected in the back of his mind wasn't enough to rise his ire and force him to challenge the man again.
In some ways, he wished he wasn't alone in this moment, but in other ways he was grateful that no one else, not even his Pokemon friends, had to see him like this.
Weak, cowering, defeated, useless...]
I suppose then I only have you to thank for leading me to her. This is as much your doing as anything else is... !
I don't care what you do to me, what you say to me... she is what matters to me now.
no subject
[the facade begins to break, as Ghetsis's voice rises... and his breath becomes more visible. He's glaring down at N more fiercely now, his good arm clenched into a fist so tight one could see the veins just before his knuckles]
How can you not care?! Nothing you ever had was real! Not even your ideals! Why doesn't that matter to you...?!
no subject
N's defiance, however fearfully it had been stated, was shaking the man's confidence and assurance that he had any control still.]
She would.
[The tremor left N's voice, and a pained smile took the place of his fearful expression. He hated even entertaining the idea of making Hilda upset, but for the sake of this argument he was willing.]
She would cry for me. That trainer would shed tears of sorrow, anger, regret, and pain over the child you raised to be a heartless puppet! I have a heart, she showed me that, and ours are connected! Even if no one else in the world would miss me, she would!
[Slowly, N rose to his feet, that pained smile turning almost manic as he pulled himself to his full height in front of Ghetsis.]
It doesn't matter because it never mattered, and I understand that now. In the past year I have experienced so, so much more than you could have ever given me with your twisted ideal of a perfect world! Your equation was broken, father! It was flawed from the start, because you forgot to take the one thing out of me that would have made it all perfect: you forgot to take away my curiosity for the world!
And I've seen it! I've seen the black, the white and so many grays! [He threw his arms open wide, letting out a laugh that hinged on disturbed with his head tossed back.] And there's so many more shades I've yet to see!
My life is real now and you can't change what's happened! Even you with all your power and knowledge can't turn back time!
KILL ME THEN! Kill me and learn just how powerful human emotions truly are, because that trainer will find you and make you pay for taking away some one dear to her! Our hearts will remain connected no matter what you do to either of us!

But he didn't make it far enough for that. Instead, he came up short, falling to his knees in the process. He began gasping for air, clutching his chest with his good hand.
In a matter of moments, Ghetsis had gone from physically towering over N, to literally kneeling at his feet. The color quickly grained from his face, and the crippled man shook violently as he tried to right himself and get back on his feet]
no subject
It was N's turn to loom over him, footsteps coming closer until he stopped in front of his crumpled form.]
You've lost. You lost before you ever came anywhere close to winning. I am not your puppet, father.
[He knelt down, putting one knee to the ground and draping his arm over the other, making no move what so ever to help Ghetsis to his feet.]
And I am going to enjoy watching you rot in this underwater prison as no one cowers before you ever again.
no subject
But as it continued, it turned out it wasn't.
It was laughter.]
Haugh...hah...hahahahaha...haugh...
N...
... I'm... so... proud of you...
no subject
[If N had even a fraction less control over himself than he had at that moment, he would have kicked Ghetsis square in the ribs.
He didn't, but his fist clenched at his side, trembling in barely contained anger.]
I don't need your pride. I don't need your pride and I don't need you. Why would I ever want the affection of a monster who tried to make me just like him?!

Finally, she found him ... with someone she hoped she would never see again, much less have N see again.
Unfortunately, she had arrived in time to see N completely lose it.
She had frozen, and stared wide-eyed. She wanted to run over and calm him down, but things from there had happened so fast. Next thing she knew, Ghetsis had fallen, and ...
She was going to run over anyway. ]
N!
no subject
[he laughed bitterly, looking over as Hilda came running up to them]
And now the person that's so precious to you has seen it for themselves...
no subject
[It was like a pin hitting a balloon. N just deflated, all of the fight and defiance rushing out of him, replaced by shame at her seeing him in such a state.]
I... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry...
no subject
Still, she couldn't let him telling Ghetsis to kill him just to see how strong their bond was slide. That was one thing she would see didn't happen. Hilda moved a little closer, closing in and wrapping her arms around N in a hug. She didn't quite know how to tell him what she was feeling at that moment, so she hoped that the hug would let him know that she understood, and didn't think badly of him, even if she didn't exactly approve of the things he had said. She stayed there, holding him, for a few moments ... then turned her gaze down to Ghetsis. ]
... We should get him some medical attention.
[ She didn't like Ghetsis. She didn't like him at all. In fact, he may have been one of the few people in their - or any - world that she could say she hated. But ... she couldn't let him stay like that.
After all. She and N ... they weren't him. They weren't anything like him. They weren't going to let someone who needed the help stay there without it ... Even if that someone might have deserved it. ]
no subject
They wouldn't be getting many more words out of him for the time being]
no subject
But he wasn't Ghetsis. As much as he had tried to make N in his image, it had failed, and the teen still held compassion where Ghetsis did not.]
... help me get him on his feet.
