[So after unhappily arriving as wet as a drowned rat, Kuro took the time to lick himself dry, looking distinctly displeased as he did so. After that business was taken care of he was now wandering around the city, maneuvering himself in between people's legs to continue on his merry way.

He wasn't quite sure how he lost Rin (after all he hadn't left his side at all during their trip to Kyoto), but he was sure it had something to do with the reason why the sky looked as if they were underwater.

Because, really. That wasn't normal.

So here he was, on a mission to find Rin and make him explain what was going on. Surely he knew the answers! And if Kuro found something to eat along the way that would be even better.]

[And going the opposite direction was just the person Kuro was looking for, wandering his way to work slowly, looking a bit sleepy and out of it. He yawned as he felt something pass between his legs, pausing to look down.

... did he just see two tails?]

['Rin's gotta be here somewhere I just know it!'

Even if he did just pass right by him, he'll totally find him.

Of course he stops briefly when his eye catches a dropped piece of hamburger on the ground nearby. His tails twitch as he goes for it. No sense in wasting perfectly good food after all. How can he find Rin on an empty stomach?]

Get-- ... move it-- damnit, people, get outta my way!

[He was imagining it, right? The familiar twin tails skirting around the legs of the early afternoon crowd... but he couldn't just ignore it on the off chance it WAS Kuro.

But it was a busy day in the plaza, with some event or another going on, and he was having trouble both watching the ground and getting through the crowd. Every time he tried to duck down to see where the supposed feline had gone, he would get shoved or nudged or elbowed.

It was rather irritating.

Damnit.]

... ugh. KURO! HEY! KURO!

[When all else fails, scream like a crazy person, right?]

[Just as he was about to grab his power snack he perks up at the sound of his name.

Could it be... Could it really be...?

'Rin? Riiiiiin!' He called out, grabbing the attention of a few passerbys when they hear him meow loudly and incessantly. Kuro just ignores them in favor of searching through the crowds to find Rin.

Of course when he spots that familiar tail hanging out of his pants Kuro leaps at it without a second's hesitation. Don't mind the claws.

'Riiiiiiiiin!!!']

Ku-- GYAAAHHHH!

[OW Kuro, the tail? Really?

Well he certainly wasn't expecting it, and because of that the pain of suddenly having weight AND claws on his tail makes him topple over. A few people skirt out of the way, staring down at the odd duo, but just like Kuro, Rin doesn't give a shit.

He laughs and grabs Kuro up, giving him a hug.]

'bout time you got here!

[It was a spur of the moment decision for him, okay?

Now in Rin's arms he butts his head against Rin's cheek and nuzzles, purring loudly.

'I knew I'd find you! I just knew it...' He rubs his head under his chin, tails swishing back and forth. Feeling like he's gotten one of his daily doses of physical affection he moves his head away to paw at Rin's cheek.

'So where is this? This isn't Kyoto and the sky is weird! Did something happen?']

[Well it was a painful one! But Rin will forgive him because OMG KURO IS FINALLY HERE

But the questions make him blink in confusion a few times. Kyoto? He's never been there. He knew Bon and co. were from there and that when they got the Kurikara repaired they had to go to the female blacksmith there, but other than that...

Well he can ask later.]

Oh uh, we're in this place called Vatheon. It's a city under water.

[If anything he just looks horrified by this new fact.

'Water?! That's horrible!' He makes a face, ears flattening back. 'I don't remember how I got here! Or how I got so wet...' These were all very important questions, especially his last one.]

[Sorry, Kuro. Rin is just going to laugh at that for a minute. But while doing so he at least gets his butt off the ground so people don't have to keep walking around him, picking up Kuro and placing him on his shoulder as he goes.]

Chill. You're not gonna get wet again. See, there's a big bubble that protects us.

[Wow, rude, Rin! Just for that he is going to pap his face again with his paw.

While on his shoulder he looks up again at the looming water. His fur puffs up as he climbs on top of Rin's head for the ride.

'How can you be so sure of that? I've gotten wet before, who knows if it'll happen again! That bubble doesn't look sturdy...' Ew, water. At least some of those fish looked yummy...

His stomach growls. 'Can we at least eat the fish? I'm so hungry, Rin! Are we going to get something to eat?']

[Ow, geez...

Rin just sighs and shakes his head, though he's still smiling in amusement at his familiar. It was a good feeling, having that silly cat riding on his head again.]

Woulda ya just trust me? C'mon, would I really lie to you?

[Tease and torment, sure, but he wouldn't just lie about something like that.]

I was goin' to work. I guess I can be nice and feed ya there.

[He gives a small huff, ruffling some of Rin's hair. 'Maybe not but you can be mean!' But fine, he'll trust his word on this. It doesn't make him feel 100% better about being under water, but it's close enough.

Of course the topic of food makes him temporarily forget his own small personal hell and he perks up. He licks his lips. 'Yes yes! You should do that! Where do you work? Do you cook there?' Please say yes, Rin.]

[Well he's just going to have to deal with it! But Rin doesn't mind the hair ruffling, or telling him he's mean. 'cause really, he kind of is sometimes.]

Yup. It's a host club called Golden Victory. Pretty cool place, boss is chill, and hey I haven't screwed up too bad!

[Yet. But if Zelos can forgive the rampaging incident then Rin is pretty damn sure he's not going to get fired any time soon.]

['Host club? What's that? What do you do there?' He meant what do you do there in general, obviously knowing Rin cooks there for whatever reason.

He meows happily. 'That's good! Is everyone there nice to you? Do you like them? What are they like?' 20 questions, the game.]

Geez... slow down a bit...

[At least they've got time before they get to the club. It's a decent walk from the Villa.]

It's a place where people come to have company and entertainment for a few hours. They pick some guy or girl they wanna sit with and that person becomes their host.

[Wow, Rin actually sounds smart right now. Really he's just worked there long enough he knows the whole thing inside and out now.]

Yeah, everyone's pretty cool. I dunno all the hosts, but Zelos is a pretty awesome boss. You're just gonna have to meet all of 'em!

['Oh...' That didn't sound very exciting, but whatever. As long as Rin was happy, that's what mattered.

'I can't wait!' Then a thought struck him and he padded Rin's forehead with a paw lightly. 'Hey, where's everyone else anyways? Are they at the club?']

[Hey, it's a job. And he wasn't going to turn down the chance to try it.

At the question, though, any smiles fade away.]

They're not here... I've been here for almost a year without anyone from our world...

[In fact Rin is almost 17, given the time he entered and how close is birthday is.]

[Kuro visible deflates a little, moving from Rin's head to his shoulder to push his head against his cheek.

'But how is that possible? You haven't left for that long back home! It doesn't make any sense!']

[Rin can only shrug to that.]

That's just the way it works here... people can come from any time, any place. Or... not come at all...

[He doesn't say it, but it's pretty obvious just how much he misses everyone. He has friends here, yes, and even a girlfriend, but he would give anything just to see one of his friends, to have Yukio nag at him or hear Bon yelling.]

[He bats at Rin's face again.

'But you never know, right? Maybe they'll come here and it'll just take some time!' He purrs against his cheek. 'Cheer up, Rin! We'll definitely see everyone again!']

[It's hard to stay down with Kuro there. Even if there's a lot of really horrible things that have happened since he left home, seeing his familiar again has put a bounce back in his step. He reaches up and rubs Kuro's ear.]

Haha! You're right! And whenever they get here I can yell at 'em for takin' so damn long!

[All the loud purring. He could power a whole city with how much he's purring right now.

'Of course I'm right! They'll get here and when they do everything will be better.' If there's one thing about Kuro it's that he is very patient. 'Trust me on this, Rin.']

[Good Kuro~]

... yeah. I trust you.

[ Kohaku was still trying to feel completely better, and while it was difficult to do, she was managing for the most part and finally acting like some semblance of her normal self after quite a while of being absolutely mopey and depressing.

She was actually out and about today, too. She'd made herself go out. After all, she had to get that notebook so she could do her little coping mechanism, right? So now she was on her way back to the apartment, plastic bag in one hand with a few items within it, when she saw something peculiar.

... a cat.

But not just any normal cat! A cat. With more than one tail. And he looked downright lost.

Kohaku had been here for so long at this point that there was a lot that she didn't find unusual anymore, but for some reason, this little guy really caught her attention. She knelt down, extending a hand toward him. ]

Hey, little guy ...?

[Kuro stops when she kneels down in front of him, ears and tails perked in curiosity. Of course he remembered the last time someone approached him and he narrowly avoided a life of being a drag queen!

... But she didn't look like that kind of person so what was the harm in coming up to her? He sniffs at her hand, batting at it with a paw once. Maybe she could help him find Rin?]

[ No worries, Kuro, she's not about to dress you up in pretty dresses. She does smile a little at the paw batting, continuing to stay where she is and try to beckon him to come to her. ]

Are you lost? I'll bet someone is really missing you right now ...

[He comes closer, nosing her hand eagerly when she says that. His ears perk up and his tails wag lightly.

'Yes, yes! I'm looking for Rin! I know he misses me and I miss him so please...' Not that she can understand him, but he sure is meowing a lot.]

[ Nope, she doesn't speak kitty. But he's doing an awful lot of meowing, right? Did he understand her? She reaches out to gently pet him a little. ]

You're really talkative, aren't you? No doubt about it, you've got someone who wants you back ... okay. Let's see if we can find your owner.

[ 'Owner' was the right term, right? ]

[he butts his head against her hand playfully, still meowing. The 'owner' bit is forgiven for now. At least she's catching on to what he's talking about.

'Yeah, Rin! Let's find Rin! But... First let's find something to eat!' His stomach growls loudly, hopefully loudly for her to hear his pain and anguish.]

[ .... oh. well. that wasn't something she was sure she could hear from a normal cat. at first, she thought it was her who was hungry, but her stomach wasn't growling, was it? ~~she wouldn't blame it if it were, though, with how little she'd been eating lately~~.

nope, that was the cat. she laughs a little, then lifts him into her arms and pets him as she straightens herself up. ]

Okay. Food first, because I know Rin is going to ask me if I've eaten today when I see him later, and you're hungry, too, right?

[ No, Kuro, she doesn't know that you're Rin's cat. She just knows she's Rin's friend/big sister figure. ]

And then we'll go find whoever is missing you right now.

[He makes no complaints when she picks him up, but visibly perks up at Rin's name.

'Yes, Rin! Do you know him? Please take me to him! Please please please!' MEOW MEOW MEOW So many meows as he paws at her chest, staring up at her with wide eyes.]

[ Huh? Kitty, what got you so riled up? Was it 'food'? ]

Wow, you sure are hungry, huh?

[ she giggles and pets him a little to try and calm him down. ]

Okay, we'll get some food as soon as possible, okay? What kind of food do you like?

[AL...MOST...

Sob. Well, close enough. Maybe she'd see Rin while they got food?

His ears twitch under the petting. 'I'll try anything! But it can't be too hot, okay?' Just. Meowing. At least he's perky about it.]

[ TOTALLY FOOD. But yes, if you stick with her, you'll find Rin, too. The two of them had been seeing each other pretty regularly since she came back from the whole dead thing.

Of course, she doesn't understand what Kuro is saying at all, but she's going to keep petting him while wandering over to the restaurants. ]

Probably should get something small, though ... not sure how much I can stomach at the moment. And I still need to figure out what all you can eat, too ...

[ Maybe she'll let him decide that. Just. Let him sniff at food and see what he wants to eat. ]
