Flashing side-ways
Character: Hugo "Hurley" Reyes
Fandom: LOST (or that show set on an island with lots of other stuff that confuses people)
Player Name: Frudence

"Yep..." Hurley had his hands at his side, just staring up at the city, nodding absently at each person who passed by. "I'm lost."
He'd been around about a week, but funny thing about being accustomed to an island without a map was that suddenly being back in Pleasantville got him turned around more often than on a freaking beach with one path out to a stream. It was easy to find your own tent with only a few to choose from. It was easy to find the campfire. Re-discovering his apartment and his new favorite snack shop, though... that was proving to be a challenge.
So he stood in the square with his arms crossed, trying to pick out people who passed and categorizing them on levels of friendliness from "Sawyer" to "Claire," with a whole separate "Jin" category - people who looked friendly enough but also foreign enough he couldn't be sure they'd be able to communicate properly.
"Oh hey! Hey! Excuse me..."

"Oh hey! Hey! Excuse me..."
I hope this is okay for you!
The reply came from an Asian teen, no more than seventeen at most, with a shaggy mess of blue-black hair, oddly pointed ears and rather sharp canine teeth. Odd as those traits were, that wasn't nearly as odd as the black tail that was curled low to the ground and mostly unnoticeable until he stopped to give the man a curious look. It was at that point that it moved upwards, the fluffy black tuft hovering just behind his shoulder.
He shifted the weight of the nylon bag in his hand, a thick stalk of leeks sticking out from the top of it.
"Yeah? You need help or somethin'?"
It was fine, there was just a death in the family, so my apologies for the delay
At least the guy seemed to understand him, weird as he looked. For the moment Hurley could pass it off as a costume or local attire and focus on getting his bearings. After that he could judge what was truly 'weird' or 'normal' in this place.
Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that. My condolences, take your time with replying.
"Explainin' it... ?" he echoed, seeming to give it some thought. His girlfriend really knew more than he did, but he wasn't about to drag a complete stranger to Maka's apartment just to ask questions.
"Uh... I'unno, I ain't the best guy to ask really," he admitted after a pause, scratching at his pointed ear with his free hand, "Lotta people say it's some sorta experiment, though. But we just kinda live as normally as we can, even knowin' that so..."
A shrug, and another pause before he added with a slight warning tone.
"Don't bother askin' the locals, though. They'll just give you a creepy smile and avoid anything you ask 'em. If you really wanna know something, there's the Welcome Center near the Coral. And if you're stumped even after that, ask for a woman named Zelda."
