[There wasn't anything Toph hated more than unannounced baths, and she certainly hadn't been expecting to go from being on top of a Fire Nation blimp to being underwater in any case. Last she knew she'd been clinging to Sokka's hand, dangling precariously from the very tips of his fingers. Had he let go of her? No, he wouldn't have. She trusted him too much to believe that.

Once she found her feet, she shook herself down and started feeling her way around. Feeling the cobblestone pathway under her feet, Toph gave a small sigh of relief. It was some kind of earth, which was good enough for her. Her feet picked up people walking around, which meant she wasn't alone. Had she landed in a Fire Nation colony? It was hard to tell.

She turned to the person closest to her, getting their attention with a small tug on their sleeve.]

Hey. Where am I?

--Toph? [He's taken aback in surprise for a moment, hurriedly turning to face her, his sleeve leaving her grasp.]

When did you get here?!

Zuko? [Okay, she was happy that one of the others was here, but by the sounds of it he's just as surprised by her appearance as she is his.] Just now, actually. Is this some Fire Nation colony?

Does this look like a-- [He starts to snap, then stops himself mid-sentence, realizing his mistake.] Uh. No, it's not a Fire Nation colony. We're not in any of the Four Nations.

This place is called Vatheon; we're at the bottom of the ocean in a giant bubble. [He sounds annoyed even as he says that.]

Uh-huh. A giant bubble under the ocean.

[Sorry if she sounds like she doesn't believe you, Zuko, she's just a little bit skeptic. Toph places her hands on her hips, raising an eyebrow.]

So what's the deal with this place?

[Zuko was pretty skeptical when he'd arrived, and he could see it. That doesn't mean he doesn't bristle with irritation that she's doubting him, though.]

There is no deal. We're stuck here and that's it! No one can even decide if they like it here or not, so don't get me started. [He cuts off that entire line of thought, and switches to,] Can you see okay down here, or do you want me to bring you up to the island?

[She stretches her toes, feeling the stone underneath her feet before shaking her head.]

I can see okay down here. It's a little weird but it's still earth in a way, just molded into something else.

Well... that's something.

I can't believe that you're here. I wonder if this means everyone else is going to show up. They're sure taking their time about it!

Yeah. It's a little blurry but at least it's not like walking around on sand.

So we're the only ones?

And Uncle, [he clarifies, still grumbling a bit.] But other than that... I think you're the only earthbender on the whole planet right now. It's crazy.

[Oh that's good. She likes Iroh.]

It sounds crazy when you really think about it.

Yeah. It does.

... So I guess I should get you a towel. There should be some over here.

Towel would be great. I'm all for standing here dripping wet but I just went through the water ride of my life and landed in a weird place. Kinda don't want to do that again.

[He sighs and leads her over to a nearby stand, grabbing a towel and holding it out to her, remembering to add,] Here.

Do I need to explain anything else? [Even he knows how terrible he is at this greeting thing, but he's trying.]

[She takes the towel from him, starting to rub herself down.]

Bottom line we're in another world in a bubble under the sea with no way out? I think that's a pretty good explanation.

Oh, hey there. [ A pause. Looking around.... ] You know, I couldn't really tell you. Since I just...got here, too.

Though it looks like some kind of underwater bubble? Or--just a city. Underwater.

Yeah...[ This is some serious waterbending, right here. Keeping a whole city underwater like this. Wow!! ]

An underwater city?

[That was new. He didn't sound too bright either, which led to her skepticism even more. She huffed a little, crossing her arms over her chest.]

Guess that means we're not in the Fire Nation.

Yeah. It's pretty weird, if you ask me. [ Shrug!! ]

Wait wait--The Fire Nation? Uh...no, I don't know why we'd be there. I mean, I was kiiiiind of hoping we'd be closer to Republic City. Since, you know, the Fire Nation is pretty...far away from there.

[ And he doesn't really have the money for a way back. ]

What I wouldn't give for Appa right now. [A small huff.] I mean I hate flying and all but at least that's better than being stuck in the middle of nowhere. And I've never heard of Republic City.

[She pauses. It's not like she has any money either, since she left home with pretty much only the clothes on her back. She could probably get away with her ID if there was a way out of this place.]

Name's Toph by the way.

Toph, huh? [ Toph, Toph....sounds vaguely familiar. ] I'm Bolin. It's nice to meet you, even if the circumstances aren't the greatest.

Hold on, how haven't you heard of Republic City? It's like...the capitol of the United Republic of Nations.

[She blinks before she laughs a little.]

Okay, now I know you were hit on the head when you were a kid. There's nothing called the United Republic of Nations. As far as I know, Fire Lord Ozai is planning on burning the whole world, not making peace with the other Nations.

Hey! I wasn't hit on the head, okay? I mean, Ozai was defeated like seventy years ago. So unless his ghost has decided to come back for revenge, he isn't really a problem.

[Brb, checking the vibrations beneath his feet.]

...Somehow you're not lying but at the same time I find that kinda hard to believe. We were supposed to be fighting Ozai today because of Sozin's Comet. This isn't seventy years ago, buddy.

Yeah, well, I think I know my history. The guy got beat, Fire Lord Zuko and Avatar Aang went and did their...peace-y stuff, and the world was all happy!

...Well, about as happy as it can get, anyway. [ A beat. ] You really...think it's seventy years ago, though? I mean, that's cool and all, but it doesn't make much sense. [ What are time shenanigans. ]

Hey, it's not making much sense to me either. I'm as much in the dark as you are. [She pauses.] Twinkle Toes disappeared last night and Zuzu and Sugar Queen were off fighting Azula last time I checked.
